Frequently Asked Questions
I tried to find and write a review on your heat packs but this is all I could find. I have had chronic pain for many years after breast cancer surgery and other operations and your heat packs have been a lifesaver for me, I literally over the years have lost count how many I have used because I use them daily sometimes two at a time. I could not do without them to help me through the day, I recommend them all the time to anyone experiencing pain or discomfort that I know, have been meaning to write to say thanks for awhile now , do not know what I would do without your heat packs , thank you Tamara
How long does it take to heat my lupin pack?
We recommend that you initially just heat for periods of 30 seconds, checking the product each time and flipping it over. Once you have tried this a few times you can put it on for longer periods until you get to your required heat. It is important not to heat for too long in the one position at the start as each microwave has different amounts of power and heating rates. Lupin are a natural product and like any natural product will damage if heated to long.
Can you heat the neck and shoulder packs in the oven?
Yes you can but please ensure your oven is on low and place your lupin heat bag on a very clean tray. It is food crumbs if they get attached onto the lupin bag that may burn it and catch fire. Please keep an eye on it also. Warm Regards, Cristina
HI, we stock your lupin bags and someone has asked if you can heat them another way other than microwave?
Our lupin products may also be heated in the oven. Extra precaution is required. The oven on low heat and we recommend customers to keep an eye on it while doing so.
How heavy are the wrap around shoulder bags
The shoulder heat bags weigh 1.05kg and the rectangle heat packs weigh 0.85kg. We can make either lighter for you should you need.
Hi there, I'm interested in purchasing a heat pack My question is - I don't have a microwave for heat up purposes Are these able to be heated up using boiled water or put in a very low heated oven for few mins ? -also, the pack will be used on my right arm/wrist to heat up muscle prior to stretching after a tendon transfer Surgury. -which pack would you suggest- -rectangle or -the neck wrap ?? (-I thought maybe the neck shaped one as part of the wrap can be under my arm an other
you will need to heat the packs in either a microwave or in a conventional oven. they cannot be heated in boiling water. i would recommend the rectangle heat pack as all you should require for your needs. warm regards, Brett.
Hello, please let me know how long the heat lasts for after heating in the microwave? Thank you.
Hi Tigger, I would say it remains hot for 10-15mins and warm for about the same. Really depends on the outside temperature as well. Warm regards, Brett.
I too do not have a microwave- What is the best way to heat pack in oven? Should I wrap pack in al-foil and heat on low setting for 5 minutes? Thank-you
I think that would be a good way to protect it. Often we recommend to put on a tea towell but i think the alfoil would work better. Warm regards, Brett. 03 8585 6685
Can you please advise how your heatpacks are packaged? We are interested in stocking but would like something that is packaged in a box.
Hi Rebecca, The heat packs that we stock are packaged in plastic resealable bags. The reason we do this is that it brings the cost down by a reasonable amount but also means patients can put the product in the plastic bag and put in fridge or freezer to stop product from getting wet. Please give us a call and happy to help with all questions and you can decide if you want to get the product in for a trial. Warm regards, Brett.
Could you please tell me about how long the Lupin Heat Wrap will stay frozen for. I realize this is a hard question as it depends on temperature etc. i need them to stay cool for awhile. Do they freeze or just cool down?
The lupin rectangle packs will stay cool and work best for approx 20 minutes depending on the heat outside. They do not freeze and go firm but grains will cool down to whatever your fridge is at. If you are after longer cooling times then a gel pack might be an option also.
I recently bought a wheat bag and a wheat bag infused with lavender they both really smell of wheat and I cannot stand it Does thus heat bag have any smell ???
There shouldnt really be any smell though if the bags are put in for too long to heat they might smell a little like Popcorn. I rarely get any negative feedback about odour with the lupin seeds and dont see it being an issue with you. Warm regards, Brett.
I am looking to pu4chase wheat bag for the lower back as per your diagram. How much please and what is name of it?
Hi Maria, the image you have sent is the rectangle lupin. The lupins move freely within the bag and they are $15. The Wrap around back and hip lupin has a velcro strap to keep it in place. The lupins are stitched into "channels" and is $35. Kind regards, Anmaree. 03 8585 6685

Your rectangle lupin pack does not have instructions on how long to microwave on what wattage nor how long to freeze before ready
Hi Brownies, Very sorry about delay in getting back to you. The instructions for heating the lupin are sewn onto the product. Also for cooling just stick in the freezer for minimum 20 minutes (no maximum time) in the plastic bag to stop moisture from getting into the product. Hope this information helps. Warm regards, Brett 03 8585 6685

Can you tell me if your heat packs are washable?
Hi Jenny, They can be dabbed clean but being a grain if you immerse them in water they are likely to rot/breakdown/stay damp. You can try it if really dirty and see what happens but we generally say to replace them once they are soiled. Warm regards, Brett Parnham 03 8585 6685

Why are some heat packs heavier than others? The neck ones especially, I can't use them for this reason.
I suppose it depends on what type of material is in them. If too little wheat or lupin then they probably dont hold the heat as long as they should. Happy to discuss on 03 8585 6685 should you have some questions at anytime. Our shoulder pack weights 1kg so am not sure if that may be too heavy for your needs?
