COMPARING DIFFERENT PILLOWS

January 19, 2021

Comparing different pillows – The right pillow can make a world of difference in the way you sleep at night. If your pillow is preventing you from sleeping well and it’s time to replace it, you may be drawn to the extremely luxurious and comfortable feeling of a memory foam or latex pillow. However, before you make your purchase, it’s important that you understand the differences between these two types of pillows to ensure you find the right one of you.

Latex Versus Memory Foam: Which Pillow Is Right for You?

Before you do anything else, take a minute and think about what is most important to you in a pillow. For example, you may like your pillow to provide more support or you may want your pillow to be more forgiving and squishy.  Another thing you may also want to consider is if you want your pillow to last for just a few years or if you’d like it to last for over several decades. Doing this can help you truly narrow down whether a latex or memory foam pillow will provide the most comfort.

Know the Differences

Think

The main differences between memory foam and latex pillow are how thick they are and what they are made out of. Memory foam pillows are made out of a material known as polyurethane and are much denser than latex pillows. When you lie your head down on a memory foam pillow, the material conforms to your head and neck. Since memory pillows provide constant support, one of these pillows may be the best choice for you if you suffer from neck or back pain.

In comparison, a latex pillow is made out of soft foam that is usually produced from the sap of rubber trees. While they provide the same type of support as memory foam pillows, they are not as dense and are considered a more environmentally-friendly option.

Consider Replacement

Old pillow

After you understand the differences between latex and memory foam, think about how long you want your pillow to last. It’s important to keep in mind that memory foam pillows last for an average of three to seven years while latex pillows can keep providing support for as long as three decades. Although it may sound like a good idea to purchase a latex pillow because they are known for their ability to last, you will likely pay more for one of these pillows than a pillow made out of memory foam.

Don’t be afraid to splurge

Money

When you’re shopping for pillows, you may be tempted to buy the least inexpensive memory foam or latex pillow you can find. Although this may sound like a good idea initially, buying a new pillow should be viewed as an investment in your health. While you don’t necessarily have to buy the most expensive one out there to improve your sleep, it’s usually best to splurge a little bit on the pillows you use to sleep at night.

When it comes to memory foam and latex pillows, both types provide support that’s critical to enhancing the way you sleep at night. If you can’t decide which one is best, don’t rush into this decision and take time to analyze the differences between these two types of pillows.

One of our best latex pillows is now adjustable featuring an extra 2cm latex layer to give you the option of two height positions for each pillow. Designed for all sleeping positions and physiques.
